You will need to document the entire process and have files accessible. In some cases, the project will be passed on to another student to continue the work at a later time. Proper documentation and file sharing is essential.

1. Phase 1 – Brainstorm – Identify a need in our community that you can address through the tools and technology available in the Fab Lab and the skills and talents you have as an individual. In Phase 1 – Brainstorming you should identify a project that you think you can handle based on feasibility, expertise, materials, and ultimately time. You can decide on a project from the following options below. Each option does require an initial concept conversation with Mr. DiGiorgio (Phase 1, part 2).

a. Choose a project based on FabLab Requests that
have been made. See list and links below
b. Talk with teachers, students, faculty and other members of our community to
identify needs or problems that can be addressed with this project. Prepare with
some questions and give people time to think.
C. Talk with Mr. DiGiorgio about a potential project you have in mind. How does
it apply what you have already learned in the FabLab space and how can it help
others?

2. In Phase 2 – Conceptualize the Idea – You
should prepare a concept piece that shows the time, thought and energy you have
to see this project through. In other words, convince me you can do this by
preparing a document that shows some initial ideas, sketches, and photos to
examples of similar work, instructions or tutorials you will follow, and a
potential plan you will follow. Prepare visual
pitch for Mr. DiGiorgio. Submit as a OneNote Page. The document created
from this phase will be the first step towards documenting this entire process.

3. Phase 3 – Capturing Creativity – The entire
process will be captured and published online via our FabLab Blog. Review the
Fab Academy website for examples of how students document their final projects.
You will be asked to keep a running blog post that documents your work with
sketches, photos, videos, file uploads, and reflection. You will be asked to
generate parts lists, next steps, and identify challenges and success. You will
be ultimately graded through this web posting.

(Example Projects coming soon)

https://sites.google.com/a/hawken.edu/fablab-student/courses/2019-spring-design-coding

A FAB4Good project is a need, request or challenge for a potential client or space.
